Support Us
How can you help?
Ghana School Aid needs and welcomes wide support from individuals especially those who have lived and worked in Ghana, and from business companies and institutions with interests in Ghana. You can support us in different ways:
Become a member!
Ghana School Aid welcomes regular subscriptions to the charity as it makes it easier to plan ahead and support schools in Ghana in a good way. There is no fixed amount and we invite those who wish to become member to give an amount they can afford. An annual contribution of £25 pounds is a good level to start from. Please contact us under info@ghanaschoolaid.org and we will be happy to send you further information.
In addition to receiving the annual newsletter, members are invited to an annual fund-raising lunch for supporters, usually organised around the AGM, with an opportunity to hear directly about the charity's current activities, to meet Ghanaians who are visiting Britain, and to contribute suggestions for the development of activities by Ghana School Aid. Suggestions for such development, for educational supplies, and for potential sources for contributions to the charity's income are most welcome.
Volunteering
If you would like to help with the work of the Trust in any way, please send a note to the Secretary of Ghana School Aid under info@ghanaschoolaid.org. Volunteers are most welcome! We are, however, not able to organise the placement of volunteers in projects we support.
Making a donation
Ghana School Aid invites all those interested in Ghana and supporting the education of young people to consider making a donation, or becoming a regular contributor to the charity's funds. Please join in helping Ghana's school-children by becoming a regular subscriber to the charity, preferably with Gift Aid so that tax can be reclaimed; or if preferred, please make a separate donation.
We also have a page on JustGiving.

Guidance for giving books and educational materials for shipment to Ghana
Education is a rapidly moving field, and this is also true for education in Ghana. In order to be equipped for tomorrow, students need to work with appropriate and as far as possible up to date materials of good quality. Ghana School Aid is committed to support Ghanaians in their education in the best and most appropriate way, taking into account their situation and needs in the world of today. In many cases this means that the charity supports the building, maintenance or equipment of classrooms, including at times computer equipment, provides support for building up libraries and helps schools to aquire the right type of reading and study materials for the pupils and students of different age. Ghana School Aid is trying to find opportunities to purchase materials and books in country as far as they are available in Ghana. This is increasingly the case but sometimes it is useful to ship materials to Ghana which have been acquired for instance in the UK.
If you wish to make a donation of books or other types of materials such as for music, arts or sports, please contact us by email or post and send us a list of the materials you may want to donate. This will help our volunteers to assess whether and in what way the material could best be used. It is also important to think about the cost of shipping, including any transfer costs that arise from transport needs from the port or airport to the final destination. Ghana School Aid is most grateful for donations of materials, including books, to be accompanied by a contribution to any shipping costs that may arise. Please do not hesitate to get in touch to discuss the options available.
Raising funds for Ghana School Aid and schools in Ghana
Another way to to help the charity is also to organise special charity collections or other fund-raising activities in schools, other educational institutions or in other contexts in Britain. This can take many different forms. A factsheet on Ghana School Aid for British schools is available.
You are also very welcome to contact us by email under info@ghanaschoolaid.org to obtain hardcopies donation forms or other materials from us or to discuss other ways to support Ghana School Aid. All contributors will be acknowledged with thanks.
